I believe the Olympic sports will be receiving stipends too

so I am not sure I would consider them as being "amateur" either. Unless you say a stipend isn't really a "salary" (assuming the definition has its origins in the Olympic definition of amateur vs. pro) and then all sports are back to being considered "amateur." At least I don't think 1 sport can be labelled as "pro" and another as "amateur" if the athletes are receiving the same stipend amount.

If schools decide to start a new league or association, then it will be interesting to see how "professional" the new whatever becomes. I have heard the term "semi-pro" toss about as a possibility. Is it truly possible for something to be "semi-pro?" I would think it is one (pro) or the other (amateau); not 1 leg in each. If the schools are serious about creating a professional league, then it makes me wonder if the schools will actually be running the pro clubs or just merely the primary sponsor.
